Severe Thunderstorm warnings issued for Black HIlls

6 29 T Storm Warning 9

A severe thunder storm warning has been issued for east central Butte County and north central Meade County until 9:15 p.m. MDT.

At 8:36 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located seven miles northwest of Fairpoint, or 40 miles northeast of Sturgis, moving north at 25 MPH.

Half-Dollar sized hail is an expected hazard. Damage to vehicles is expected.

The severe thunderstorm will be near Mud Butte around 9:05 p.m. MDT.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions include:

A tornado watch that remains in effect until Midnight MDT for northwestern and west central South Dakota.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, which may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.


A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for southwestern Butte County as well as northwestern Lawrence County until 9:15 p.m. MDT.

At 8:40 P.M. MDT, a severe thunder storm was spotted three miles northwest of Spearfish moving northeast at 25 MPH.

Ping-pong sized hail is an expected hazard. People and animals that are outdoors will be injured. Damage is also expected to roofs, siding, windows and vehicles.

The severe thunderstorm warning will be near:

St. Onge at about 8:55 p.m. MDT

Belle Fourche at around 9:00 p.m. MDT

Fruitdale around 9:10 p.m. MDT

Belle Fourche Reservoir and Arpan around 9:15 p.m. MDT.

Interstate 90 in South Dakota between mile markers 1 and 16 is included.

Interstate 90 in Wyoming between Mile Markers 205 and 207 is included.

Precautionary/Preparedness actions include:

A tornado watch remains in effect until midnight MDT for northwestern South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming.

BLACK HILLS, S.D. — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for south central Meade County and central Pennington County until 8:45 p.m. MDT.

At 7:54 p.m. MDT, a severe thunderstorm warning was located over New Underwood, or 19 miles east of Rapid City, moving north at 10 MPH.

Half-dollar sized hail is expected as is damage to vehicles.

The severe thunderstorm will near Viewfield around 8:40 p.m. MDT and Curlew Lake around 8:45 MDT.

Interstate 90 between mile marker 71 and 86 are included.

Precautionary/Preparedness actions include:

A tornado watch remains in effect until midnight MDT for west central South Dakota.

BLACK HILLS, S.D. — A Severe Thunderstorm warning has been issued for northwestern Perkins County in northwestern South Dakota.

The warning is in effect until 7:15 p.m. MDT.

At 6:10 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was was located three miles southeast of Prairie City or 35 miles south of Hettinger, moving north at 15 MPH.

Hazards include ping-pong sized hail and 60 MPH wind gusts.

People and animals could be injured. Hail damage is expected to roofs, siding and trees.

The impacted locations include:

Lodgepole and Prairie City.

Precautionary and Preparedness actions include:

A tornado watch remains in effect until midnight MDT for northwestern South Dakota.

BLACK HILLS, S.D. — A Severe Thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 7:15 p.m. MDT for southeastern Butte and north central Meade Counties.

At 6:30 p.m. MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located three miles southeast of Fairpoint, or 39 miles southwest of Faith, moving at 30 MPH.

60 MPH wind gusts and quarter size hails are hazards to expect. Hail damage to vehicles is expected as is wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.

The following locations that are impacted are:

Fairpoint, Maurine, Mud Butte and Stoneville.

A tornado watch remains in effect until midnight MDT for northwestern and west central South Dakota. For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

BLACK HILLS, S.D. — A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for southwestern Lawrence County and west central Pennington County until 5:45 p.m. MDT.

At 5:00 MDT, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was located over Black Fox Campground, which is 14 miles south of Lead, and was moving at 15 MPH.

Quarter size hail is possible according to the radar. Damage to vehicles is expected.

The locations include:

Lead, Deadwood, Central City, Cheyenne Crossing, Brownsville, Crooks Tower, Black Fox Campground, Roughlock Falls, Savoy Bridal Veil Falls, Terry Peak and Spearfish Canyon.

Precautionary Preparedness actions include:

A tornado watch remains in effect for west central South Dakota until Midnight MDT.

BLACK HILLS, S.D. — A Severe Thunderstorm warning has been issued for west central Meade County and east central Lawrence County until 5:45 p.m. MDT.

At 4:53 p.m. MDT., a severe thunderstorm was located three miles east of Galena, or six miles southwest of Sturgis and was moving northeast at 15 MPH.

Hazards include quarter size hail that was detected by the radar. Damage to vehicles is expected.

The thunderstorm warning will be near Apple Springs around 5:05 p.m. MDT. and Bear Butte State Park at around 5:45 p.m. MDT.

Interstate 90 in South Dakota between mile markers 26 and 38 is also included in the warning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions include:

A tornado watch is in effect for west central South Dakota until Midnight MDT.

BLACK HILLS, S.D. — The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for western Meade County and Southeastern Lawrence County.

The warning is in effect until 5:00 MDT.

At 4:14 p.m. MDT, a Severe Thunderstorm was located over Roubaix Lake which is about 13 miles southeast of Lead. The storm was moving northeast at 15 MPH.

Possible hazards are ping-pong sized hail according to the radar. People and animals that are outdoors will be injured. With the hail, you can expect damage to roofs, siding, windows and vehicles.

The locations impact are:

Nemo, Brownsville, Galena, Dalton Lake and Roubaix Lake. This also includes Interstate 90 in South Dakota between mile markers 38 and 39.

Precautionary measures include:

A Tornado watch remains in effect until midnight MDT for west central South Dakota.
