Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Western South Dakota counties

UPDATE (8:42 p.m.) — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for southwestern Meade County until 9:15 p.m. MDT.

At 8:35 p.m. MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles northeast of Summerset, 16 miles north of Rapid City, moving at 35 MPH.

Possible hazards include: 60 MPH wind gusts.

Damage to roofs, siding and trees is expected.

This severe thunderstorm will be near Hereford around 9:05 p.m. MDT, and Curlew Lake around 9:10 p.m. MDT. This includes Interstate 90 between mile markers 34 and 53.


RAPID CITY, S.D. — The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southern Harding County, Butte County, northwestern Meade County, and southwestern Perkins County until 9:15 p.m. MDT.

At 8:08 p.m. MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Castle Rock, 29 miles northeast of Belle Fourche, moving east at 40 MPH.

Possible hazards include: 70 MPH wind gusts and quarter-sized hail.

Hail damage to vehicles and tree damage is expected. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

This severe thunderstorm will be near Dears Ears Butte around 8:25 p.m. MDT, and Mud Butte around 8:50 p.m. MDT.
