Sen. Thune visits Rapid City — praises local tech company
RAPID CITY, S.D. — While visiting Rapid City, Sen. Thune also took the time to visit professional 3D printing company, B9 Creations.
B9 Creations gave Sen. Thune a tour of the facility and showcased the different products that are manufactured by the company.
The company started in founder Michael Joyce’s garage — in 2019, the company more than quadrupled their facility when they moved to an 18,000 square foot office and manufacturing plant.
B9 Creations has grown from a Kickstarter company to a global 3D printer manufacturer. Their market includes: jewelry, prototyping and manufacturing, research, medical devices, and model making.
Thune says industries like these change the perception of South Dakota as not only an agricultural state, but a state that’s ready to move into the next decade.
“What you’re seeing here with the advent of this type of business is some wonderful new technologies and applications coming out of right here in Rapid City south Dakota that not only are solving problems here, but all across the world,” said Sen. Thune.
Thune also commented that he wants to help industries like B9 Creations grow and prosper in South Dakota, and that cooperation with state government will be key.
