See how the Uptown Rapid Mall fared on Black Friday

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Hundreds of people came out to Uptown Rapid, formerly known as Rushmore Mall, for the discounts and deals on Black Friday.

Many people showed up to the mall as soon as stores opened.

“We’re seeing a good strong start to the shopping season and we are hopeful that we continue strong. We’re seeing very we’re still seeing good numbers in comparison to last year, which was a record for many people.”, said, GM of Uptown Rapid, Sandy Brockhouse.

The most popular stores were Bath & Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, and JCPenney.

“We’ve had some great traffic going on. We started out pretty strong this morning and it’s been picking up throughout the day. So we’re really looking forward to having our customers back in our store this year.”, said Dorice Lindsey, GM of JCPenney.

On Black Friday, most eyes are on the big box stores, but the small businesses in the mall were also doing pretty well.

“30% of our mall is small business, so they are participating. They’re participating in Black Friday, and in Small Business Saturday. It’s great to come out and support these local businesses.”, said Brockhouse.

For Small Business Saturday, Uptown Rapid is a great place to come out and support local businesses.

Santa will also be making an appearance on Saturday, November 25; Uptown Rapid will be opening an hour early.
