BLACK HILLS NATIONAL FOREST, S.D. — A temporary closure order has been issued for a section of Trail #9 as crews work to install drainage structures and perform erosion control and stabilization of the trail.

Trail #9 South is the most heavily-used trail in the Black Hills National Forest, so allowing its use during heavy maintenance could impede public safety and hinder maintenance operations.

Access to Black Elk Peak is available from Sylvan Lake via Trail #4 (Little Devils Tower). A map is available by clicking here.

The Student Conservation Association, two crews from the Montana Conservation Corps, and Forest Service crews will work on the trail.
