Second-grader brings loaded gun to school

ST. PAUL, MINN. — A 7-year-old boy brought a loaded handgun to his St. Paul elementary school on Wednesday.

According to St. Paul police, someone became aware of the gun and a staff member called authorities.

A school resource officer retrieved the gun, which had a trigger lock on it, from the student’s backpack.

The boy was turned over to his mother after the incident. She had reported her gun was stolen on Sunday.

Police are still investigating how the boy got the gun in order to determine if charges should be made against the mother.
