Second convoy from Wall successfully arrives in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A second convoy of vehicles escorted by the South Dakota Highway Patrol successfully journeyed from Wall to Rapid City in blizzard conditions on Thursday.

Each convoy brought approximately 25 vehicles. The convoy took around three hours to make the 50-mile trip due to extremely low visibility.

South Dakota Highway Patrol said that Wall convoys have been suspended for the rest of the day and that those still stranded should seek shelter at the Super 8 or Wall Community Center.

Another convoy of 12 vehicles is being escorted by Pennington County Highway and the PCSO from Wicksville to Rapid City. This may be followed by another convoy from New Underwood to Rapid City, weather dependent, PCSO said.
