UPDATE: Missing hunter found

UPDATE (2:00 p.m. – 3/9/22): Jerry Paul Constance has been found.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office says he is in good health and will be back with his family soon.

CUSTER, S.D. — Custer County Search and Rescue is seeking help from the public in locating a missing hunter.

At approximately 8:08 p.m. Tuesday evening, Custer County Search and Rescue was paged out for a lost hunter believed to be in the area of Gillette Canyon west of Custer.
The hunter, Jerry Paul Constance (goes by Paul) is described as male, 6’ 1” 200 pounds with brown eyes. Paul is driving an olive green 2022 Jeep Gladiator with a temporary new vehicle tag.
Paul was last seen at approximately 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon when he sent a video to his brother of a herd of elk that he had spotted.
