Search continues for new Rapid City police, fire chief

RAPID CITY,S.D. — The search continues on for a Rapid City police chief and fire chief.

The City’s Human Resources Department says its reviewing several internal candidates for the positions.  Candidates are getting presentations ready for when they go in front of a panel of community members diverse in ethnicity, jobs and experience.

“These are probably two of our most public facing department directors,” said Nick Stroot, the Rapid City Human Resources Director. “They’re heading up to very important pieces of our organization. And so we want to make sure we are doing our due diligence and when we do name our permanent fire chief and and permanent police chief, it’s the right man or woman for the job.”

There is still no deadline as to when the final decision of a fire chief and a police chief will be made.
