SDDOT receives RAISE Grant for reconstruction of Highway 12 in Corson County

Road ReconstructionPIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Transportation recently received a $21.4 million Rebuilding America Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to regrade and reconstruct approximately nine miles of Highway 12 in Corson County.

The project will widen Highway 12 between Morristown and Watauga, and it will include six-foot-wide shoulders and will replace a deteriorating bridge over Hay Creek, three large pipe culverts and approximately 19 miles of right-of-way fencing.

“The RAISE Grant funds will provide benefits to these local communities through improved travel time, reliable access to jobs, and upgraded infrastructure,“ said Secretary Transportation Secretary Joel Jundt. “This funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation supports a project that will benefit South Dakotans for generations.”

RAISE Grants provide an opportunity for the DOT to invest in road, rail, transit, and port projects that have a significant local or regional impact.
