SDDOT celebrates 26 years of service with 511 Day

Sddot Logo Clr Vert RgbPIERRE, S.D. — May 11 is 511 Day, and the South Dakota Department of Transportation is celebrating by marking 26 years of service to South Dakota’s citizens and travelers.

The free traveler information telephone service provides 24/7 travel information like accidents, construction and weather forecasts. Through the years, 511 South Dakota has received four million phone calls.

South Dakota’s DOT strives to improve traveler information and is committed to ongoing improvements to make 511 more valuable and useful to travelers.

With the summer season comes a busy construction schedule, and the SDDOT say citizens and visitors traveling in South Dakota can continue to use 511 for all their traveler information needs.

The SDDOT also says a 511 website and a mobile app, SDDOT 511, available for both iOS and Android users.
