SDDOH: 877 total new COVID-19 cases, six deaths reported statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 877 new confirmed and probable cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed and probable cases to 234,961.

Six new deaths were reported, bringing the state’s death toll to 2,772.

762 total confirmed and probable cases were reported West River: 559 in Dewey County, 117 in Ziebach County, 24 each in Meade and Pennington Counties, eight in Lawrence County, five each in Custer and Todd Counties, four each in Fall River and Oglala Lakota Counties, three each in Butte and Haakon Counties, two each in Bennett and Lyman Counties and one each in Jackson and Mellette Counties.

In South Dakota, 8,465 cases are considered active, that number is down from 9,145 on Thursday.

An additional 1,551 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 223,724.

Data are provisional and subject to change. Data are updated daily (Monday – Friday) by about 12:00 p.m. and include cases reported through 1:00 p.m. the previous day. Data from Saturday and Sunday will be included in Tuesday’s update.
