SDDOH: 72 total new COVID-19 cases, one death reported statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 72 new confirmed and probable cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed and probable cases to 236,503.

One new death was reported, bringing the state’s death toll to 2,844.

25 total confirmed and probable cases were reported West River: eight in Pennington County, four each in Lawrence, Meade and Oglala Lakota Counties, two in Todd County and one each in Bennett, Fall River and Jackson Counties.

In South Dakota, 3,238 cases are considered active, that number is down from 3,355 on Tuesday.

An additional 187 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 230,421.


Data are provisional and subject to change. Data are updated daily (Monday – Friday) by about 12:00 p.m. and include cases reported through 1:00 p.m. the previous day. Data from Saturday and Sunday will be included in Tuesday’s update.
