SDDOH: 427 total new COVID-19 cases, five deaths reported statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 427 new confirmed and probable cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed and probable cases to 235,116.

Five new deaths were reported, bringing the state’s death toll to 2,784.

205 total confirmed and probable cases were reported West River: 56 in Todd County, 54 in Pennington County, 20 in Meade County, 18 in Oglala Lakota County, 11 in Custer County, nine each in Butte and Lawrence Counties, five in Dewey County, four in Lyman County, three each in Bennett and Tripp Counties, two each in Corson, Gregory, Jackson, Mellette and Stanley Counties and one each in Fall River, Jones and Ziebach Counties.

In South Dakota, 6,083 cases are considered active, that number is down from 7,706 on Tuesday.

An additional 2,043 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 226,674.

Data are provisional and subject to change. Data are updated daily (Monday – Friday) by about 12:00 p.m. and include cases reported through 1:00 p.m. the previous day. Data from Saturday and Sunday will be included in Tuesday’s update.
