SDDOH: 283 total new COVID-19 cases, 12 deaths reported statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 283 new confirmed and probable cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed and probable cases to 233,008.

12 deaths were reported, bringing the state’s death toll to 2,742.

113 total confirmed and probable cases were reported West River: 43 in Pennington County, 14 in Meade County, 13 in Lawrence County, 10 in Todd County, six in Oglala Lakota County, five in Fall River County, four in Tripp County, three each in Bennet and Dewey Counties, two each in Butte, Custer, Mellette and Stanley Counties and one each in Corson, Gregory, Haakon and Lyman Counties.

In South Dakota, 13,248 cases are considered active, that number is down from 14,615 on Friday.

An additional 1,638 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 217,018.


Data are provisional and subject to change. Data are updated daily (Monday – Friday) by about 12:00 p.m. and include cases reported through 1:00 p.m. the previous day. Data from Saturday and Sunday will be included in Tuesday’s update.
