SDDOH: 158 total new COVID-19 cases, seven deaths reported statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 158 new confirmed and probable cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed and probable cases to 235,116.

Seven new deaths were reported, bringing the state’s death toll to 2,779.

87 total confirmed and probable cases were reported West River: 29 in Pennington County, 16 in Meade County, 11 in Todd County, nine in Oglala Lakota County, six in Butte County, four each in Dewey and Lawrence County, two in Jackson County and one each in Custer, Fall River, Gregory, Haakon, Jones and Ziebach Counties.

In South Dakota, 7,706 cases are considered active, that number is down from 8,465 on Friday.

An additional 907 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 224,631.


Data are provisional and subject to change. Data are updated daily (Monday – Friday) by about 12:00 p.m. and include cases reported through 1:00 p.m. the previous day. Data from Saturday and Sunday will be included in Tuesday’s update.
