SD DOH Weekly Update: 269 total new COVID-19 cases, two deaths reported

Mgn 1280x960 00325c00 AvgoaPIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s weekly COVID-19 update showed 239 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 109,836.

30 new probable cases were reported.

13 total cases of the B.1.617.2 – or Delta – variant have been reported so far.

Two new death was added, putting the states death toll at 2,043.

92 confirmed cases were reported West River: 55 in Pennington County, 11 in Lawrence County, five in Oglala Lakota County, four each in Dewey, Meade, and Fall River Counties, three in Custer County, two in Bennett County, and one each in Corson, Ziebach, Butte, and Jackson Counties.

Six probable cases were reported West River: two in Lawrence County and one each in Meade, Haakon, Todd, and Jackson County.

In South Dakota, 434 cases are considered active, that number is up from 290 last week.

An additional 122 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 122,739.

33 people are currently hospitalized; a total of 6,508 have been hospitalized since the pandemic began.
