SD DOH confirms 4 new COVID-19 cases in Pennington County, 1 in Meade County
PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health has confirmed 4 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Pennington County as of Wednesday, along with 1 new case in Meade County.
A total of 3,732 cases have been confirmed in South Dakota, up 69 from Tuesday. 7 of Wednesday’s new cases are West River – 4 in Pennington, 1 in Meade, 2 in Oglala Lakota County.
On Tuesday Ellsworth Air Force Base announced its first case of COVID-19. The infected individual is a contractor who works on the installation, but has been teleworking and hasn’t been on base since April 30. The base is tracing anyone who has been in contact with that person, and anyone who has come in contact with them will be notified and will have to self-quarantine.
Across the state, 1,326 cases are considered active. That number is up from 1,315 on Tuesday. An additional 58 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 2,367.
A total of 79 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 281 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
No additional death were reported, leaving the current death toll of COVID-19 victims in South Dakota at 39.
