SD DOH: 992 total new COVID-19 cases, four deaths reported statewide

Mgn 1280x960 00325c00 AvgoaPIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 792 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 120,867.

200 new probable cases were reported.

289 total cases of the B.1.617.2 – or Delta – variant have been reported so far.

Four new deaths were reported, bringing the state death toll to 2,092.

406 confirmed cases were reported West River: 232 in Pennington County, 62 in Meade County, 40 in Lawrence County, 12 in Custer County, 10 in Oglala Lakota County, six in Dewey County, four each in Corson, Stanley, and Fall River Counties, three each in Jackson and Gregory Counties, two in Tripp County, and one each in Jones and Mellette Counties.

73 probable cases were reported West River: 46 in Pennington County, nine in Fall River County, four in Jackson County, three in Meade County, two each in Oglala Lakota and Tripp Counties, and one each in Perkins, Ziebach, Lawrence, Stanley, Jones, Custer, and Mellette Counties.

In South Dakota, 7,263 cases are considered active, that number is up from 7,226 on Friday.

An additional 951 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 128,937.
