SD DOH: 984 new confirmed COVID-19 cases statewide, 157 West River

PIERRE, S.D. — On Tuesday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 984 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 39,494.

5 of Tuesday’s 989 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

157 confirmed cases were reported in West River: 56 in Pennington County, 23 in Oglala Lakota County, 16 in Bennett County, 15 in Todd County, 10 each in Dewey and Meade Counties, six in Lyman County, five in Butte County, three each in Corson and Tripp Counties, two each in Custer, Gregory, Jackson and Ziebach Counties and one each in Jones and Lawrence Counties.

In South Dakota, 11,188 cases are considered active, that number is up from 11,061 on Monday. An additional 862 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 29,167.

395 people are currently hospitalized, with a total of 2,483 people have ever been hospitalized.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the statewide total at 375.
