SD DOH: 95 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 16 in Pennington County

PIERRE, S.D. – Wednesday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show a total of 5,162 cases have been confirmed in South Dakota, up 95 from Tuesday.

19 of Wednesday’s new cases are West River – 16 in Pennington County, one in Oglala Lakota County, one in Fall River County and one in Lyman County.

Earlier Tuesday, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office reported that two employees at the Care Campus have tested positive for COVID-19. Both employees were notified of a positive test result on Monday June 1, 2020.

The employees had worked with fellow staff and clients at the Care Campus between May 27 and May 30. One employee also worked on May 31. Both developed symptoms that prompted testing.

Across the state, 1,016 cases are considered active. That number is up from 1,015 on Tuesday. An additional 94 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 4,084.

A total of 87 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 456 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.

No new deaths are reported, leaving the statewide total at 62.
