SD DOH: 35 new COVID-19 cases in west river, two Pennington County deaths

PIERRE, S.D. — Saturday the South Dakota Department of Health confirmed 91 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the state’s total to 6,626 cases.

Across the state, 818 cases are considered active. That number is up 23 from Friday. Statewide, over 5,700 people have recovered from the virus. 65 recoveries were reported on Saturday. 

Two more Pennington County residents have died from coronavirus-related complications making the county’s death total 16. Statewide, 91 have died.

35 new cases were found west river – 15 in Oglala Lakota county, 11 in Pennington County, three in Todd County, two in Lyman county, and one case each in Bennett County, Custer County, Lawrence County and Meade County.

Nearly 500 people have tested positive for the virus in Pennington County, while 346 have recovered. A total 151 cases are active in Pennington County.

73 that are currently being hospitalized. A total of 645 people have ever been hospitalized.
