SD DOH: 89 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 26 West River

PIERRE, S.D. – Wednesday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show a total of 9,168 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in South Dakota, up 89 from Tuesday.

26 of Wednesday’s new cases are West River – ten in Pennington County, four in Meade County, three in Lawrence County, two in Fall River County and one each in Corson, Dewy, Ziebach, Jackson, Oglala Lakota and Todd Counties.

One Davison County resident has died from coronavirus-related complications. This is the first recorded COVID death there. Statewide, 137 have died.

Across the state, 951 cases are considered active. That number is up from 935 on Tuesday.

An additional 72 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 8,080.

A total of 43 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 856 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
