SD DOH: 85 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 17 West River

PIERRE, S.D. – Friday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show a total of 6,978 cases have been confirmed in South Dakota, up 85 from Thursday.

17 of Friday’s new cases are West River – 10 in Pennington County, two in Dewey County and one each in Meade, Oglala Lakota, Lyman, Stanley and Tripp Counties.

Across the state, 832 cases are considered active. That number is up from 814 on Thursday. An additional 67 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 6,049.

A total of 58 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 687 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the statewide total at 97.
