SD DOH: 82 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 11 West River

PIERRE, S.D. – Thursday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show a total of 9,897 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in South Dakota, up 82 from Wednesday.

One additional Hughes County resident has died from coronavirus-related complications. A total of three people have died in that county alone. Statewide, 148 have died.

11 of Thursday’s new cases are West River – five in Pennington County, two in Harding County and one each in Lyman, Meade, Oglala Lakota and Todd Counties.

90 of the 95 recorded COVID-19 cases at Camp Judson in Keystone have recovered.

Across the state, 1,058 cases are considered active. That number is down from 1,062 on Wednesday. An additional 85 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 8,691.

A total of 56 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 896 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
