SD DOH: 718 total new COVID-19 cases, eight deaths reported statewide

Mgn 1280x960 00325c00 AvgoaPIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 560 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 132,468.

Eight new deaths were reported, bringing the state death toll to 2,228.

252 confirmed cases were reported West River: 126 in Pennington County, 28 in Meade County, 25 in Lawrence County, 18 in Butte County, nine each in Oglala Lakota and Todd Counties, eight in Custer County, seven in Dewey County, six each in Fall River and Bennett Counties, three in Tripp County, two in Gregory County, and one each in Perkins, Lyman, and Jackson Counties.

44 probable cases were reported West River: 27 in Pennington County, three each in Lyman, Todd, and Gregory Counties, two each in Stanley and Haakon Counties, and one each in Perkins, Lawrence, Fall River, and Bennett Counties.

In South Dakota, 5,392 cases are considered active, that number is down from 5,625 on Monday.

An additional 943 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 145,701.
