SD DOH: 66 new positive COVID-19 cases statewide, 18 in West River

PIERRE, S.D. – Wednesday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show a total of 6,419 cases have been confirmed in South Dakota, up 66 from Tuesday.

18 of Wednesday’s new cases are West River – nine in Pennington County, six in Lyman County and one each in Oglala Lakota County, Mellette County, Lawrence County and Todd County.

One additional Minnehaha resident has died from coronavirus-related complications. A total of 56 people have died in that county alone. Statewide, 84 have died.

Across the state, 781 cases are considered active. That number is up from 773 on Tuesday. An additional 57 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 5,554.

A total of 81 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 629 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
