SD DOH: 605 total new COVID-19 cases, one death reported

Mgn 1280x960 00325c00 AvgoaPIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 436 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 123,506.

326 total cases of the B.1.617.2 – or Delta – variant have been reported so far.

One new death was reported, bringing the state death toll to 2,109.

181 confirmed cases were reported West River: 93 in Pennington County, 25 in Meade County, 18 in Butte County, 12 in Oglala Lakota County, six in Custer County, four in Gregory County, three each in Harding, Perkins, Dewey, and Stanley Counties, two each in Lawrence, Fall River, Jackson, and Todd Counties, and one each in Bennett, Mellette, and Jones Counties.

69 probable cases were reported West River: 38 in Pennington County, six in Gregory County, four in Dewey County, three each in Custer, Todd, and Jones Counties, two each in Ziebach and Mellette Counties, and one each in Harding, Lawrence, Stanley, Haakon, Fall River, Oglala Lakota, Lyman, and Tripp Counties.

In South Dakota, 7,714 cases are considered active, that number is up from 7,636 on Tuesday.

An additional 525 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 131,922.
