SD DOH: 59 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 11 West River

PIERRE, S.D. – Tuesday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show a total of 9,079 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in South Dakota, up 59 from Monday.

11 of Tuesday’s new cases are West River – three in Pennington County and two each in Dewey, Fall River, Meade and Oglala Lakota Counties.

One Coddington County resident died from coronavirus-related complications, the first COVID death in that county. Statewide, 136 have died.

Across the state, 935 cases are considered active. That number is down from 946 on Monday. An additional 69 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 8,008.

A total of 42 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 846 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
