SD DOH: 587 total new COVID-19 cases, six deaths reported

Mgn 1280x960 00325c00 AvgoaPIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 436 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 123,506.

326 total cases of the B.1.617.2 – or Delta – variant have been reported so far.

Six new deaths were reported, bringing the state death toll to 2,115.

211 confirmed cases were reported West River: 108 in Pennington County, 29 in Lawrence County, 26 in Meade County, 15 in Butte County, seven each in Custer, Fall River, and Todd Counties, three each in Perkins and Dewey Counties, two in Tripp County, and one each in Harding, Corson, Lyman, and Gregory Counties.

45 probable cases were reported West River: 23 in Pennington County, six in Meade County, four in Fall River County, three each in Harding and Custer Counties, and two in Corson, Haakon, and Jones Counties.

In South Dakota, 7,725 cases are considered active, that number is up from 7,714 on Wednesday.

An additional 568 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 132,490.
