SD DOH: 56 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 15 in West River

PIERRE, S.D. – Friday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show a total of 6,535 cases have been confirmed in South Dakota, up 56 from Thursday.

15 of Friday’s new cases are West River – four in Pennington County, three in Oglala Lakota County, two in Meade County, two in Tripp County and one each in Lawrence, Fall River, Todd and Gregory County

One additional Pennington County resident has died from coronavirus-related complications. A total of 14 people have died in that county alone. Statewide, 88 have died.

Across the state, 795 cases are considered active. That number is down from 800 on Thursday. An additional 60 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 5,652.

A total of 79 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 639 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
