SD DOH: 553 total new COVID-19 cases, three deaths reported

Mgn 1280x960 00325c00 AvgoaPIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 433 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 121,715.

290 total cases of the B.1.617.2 – or Delta – variant have been reported so far.

Three new deaths were reported, bringing the state death toll to 2,096.

244 confirmed cases were reported West River: 120 in Pennington County, 28 in Meade County, 27 in Butte County, 25 in Lawrence County, 14 in Custer County, eight in Dewey County, five in Oglala Lakota County, four in Corson County, three in Jackson County, two each in Ziebach, Fall River, and Todd Counties, and one each in Harding, Bennett, Tripp, and Gregory Counties.

67 probable cases were reported West River: 42 in Pennington County, five in Todd County, four in Tripp County, three in Meade County, two each in Dewey, Fall River, and Lyman Counties, and one each in Corson, Ziebach, Butte, Custer, Jones, Mellette, and Gregory Counties.

In South Dakota, 7,526 cases are considered active, that number is up from 7,364 on Wednesday.

An additional 387 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 129,790.
