SD DOH: 544 total new COVID-19 cases, four deaths reported

Mgn 1280x960 00325c00 AvgoaPIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 408 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 122,125.

293 total cases of the B.1.617.2 – or Delta – variant have been reported so far.

Four new deaths were reported, bringing the state death toll to 2,100.

188 confirmed cases were reported West River: 105 in Pennington County, 24 in Meade County, 16 in Lawrence County, 11 in Butte County, six each in in Custer and Fall River Counties, five in Todd County, three each in Dewey and Tripp Counties, two each in Oglala Lakota and Stanley Counties and one each in Bennett, Corson, Gregory, Jackson and Lyman Counties.

69 probable cases were reported West River: 46 in Pennington County, five Meade County, four in Custer County, three each in Jones and Lawrence Counties, two in Perkins County and one each in Bennett, Gregory, Haakon, Lyman, Mellette and Todd Counties.

In South Dakota, 7,794 cases are considered active, that number is up from 7,526 on Thursday.

An additional 272 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 130,062.
