SD DOH: 525 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 109 West River


PIERRE, S.D. — On Monday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 525 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 38,504.

13 of Monday’s 538 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

109 confirmed cases were reported in West River: 36 in Pennington County, 22 in Oglala Lakota County, 12 in Lawrence County, six in Meade County, four each in Butte, Corson, Jackson and Lyman Counties, three each in Custer, Gregory, Haakon and Todd Counties, two in Fall River County and one each in Bennett, Tripp and Mellette Counties.

In South Dakota, 11,061 cases are considered active, that number is up from 10,745 on Sunday. An additional 222 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 28,305.

377 people are currently hospitalized, with a total of 2,453 people have ever been hospitalized.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the statewide total at 375.
