SD DOH: 417 total new COVID-19 cases, nine deaths reported statewide

Mgn 1280x960 00325c00 AvgoaPIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 290 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 131,463.

Nine new deaths were reported, bringing the state death toll to 2,214.

112 confirmed cases were reported West River: 63 in Pennington County, 10 in Meade County, eight each in Fall River and Todd Counties, seven in Butte County, four in Oglala Lakota County, three each in Lawrence and Custer Counties, two each in Haakon and Gregory Counties, and one each in Perkins and Jackson Counties.

56 probable cases were reported West River: 18 in Pennington County, 16 in Dewey County, nine in Ziebach County, two each in Perkins, Corson, Custer, Bennett, and Todd Counties, and one each in Meade, Mellette, and Gregory Counties.

In South Dakota, 5,696 cases are considered active, that number is down from 5,723 on Wednesday.

An additional 435 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 144,061.
