SD DOH: 395 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 93 West River

PIERRE, S.D. — Thursday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show 395 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of cases to 17,686.

One additional Union County resident has died from coronavirus-related complications. A total of 6 people have died in that county alone. Statewide, 193 have died.

93 of Thursday’s new cases are West River — 35 in Pennington County, 15 in Tripp County, eight each in Gregory and Lawrence Counties, six in Meade County, four in Butte County, three each in Custer and Todd Counties, two each in Fall River, Lyman, Mellette and Oglala Lakota County and one each in Corson, Jackson and Stanley Counties.

Across the state, 2,615 cases are considered active. That number is up from 2,442 on Wednesday. An additional 221 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 14,878.

A total of 138 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 1,231 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
