SD DOH: 37 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths West River

PIERRE, S.D. – Wednesday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show a total of 7,652 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in South Dakota, up 80 from Tuesday.

37 of Wednesday’s new cases are West River – 25 in Pennington County, seven in Oglala Lakota County, two in Corson County and one each in Dewey, Mellette and Todd Counties.

Two additional South Dakota residents have died from coronavirus-related complication, both West River, in Butte and Pennington Counties. Statewide, 111 have died.

Across the state, 878 cases are considered active. That number is up from 864 on Tuesday. An additional 64 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 6,663.

A total of 59 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 752 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
