SD DOH: 283 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 65 West River

PIERRE, S.D. — Friday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show 283 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of cases to 16,117.

65 of Friday’s new cases are West River — 30 in Pennington County, seven each in Custer and Meade Counties, five in Bennett County, three each in Fall River and Todd Counties, two each in Butte, Gregory and Haakon Counties and one each in Corson, Dewey, Lawrence and Tripp Counties.

Across the state, 2,515 cases are considered active. That number is up from 2,456 on Thursday. An additional 224 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 13,425.

A total of 98 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 1,138 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the statewide death total at 177.
