SD DOH: 270 total new COVID-19 cases, seven deaths statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — On Friday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 194 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 105,221.

76 of the 270 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

Seven new deaths were reported, bringing the state death toll to 1,946.

40 confirmed cases were reported West River: 19 in Pennington County, six in Lawrence County, three in Custer County, two each in Butte, Fall River, Harding, Meade and Oglala Lakota Counties and one each in Gregory and Tripp Counties.

11 new probable cases were reported West River:  10 in Pennington County and one in Fall River County.

In South Dakota, 2,465 cases are considered active, that number is down from 2,484 on Thursday.

An additional 282 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 115,056.

97 people are currently hospitalized; a total of 7,106 have been hospitalized since the pandemic began.
