SD DOH: 263 new cases statewide, 88 West River

PIERRE, S.D. — Thursday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show 263 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of cases to 15,834.

Four more South Dakota residents have died from coronavirus-related complications, one each in Bennett, Clay, Corson and Minnehaha Counties, bringing the statewide death total to 177.

88 of Thursday’s new cases are West River — 34 in Pennington County, 16 in Meade County, ten in Lawrence County, six each in Dewey and Custer Counties, three each in Corson, Oglala Lakota and Ziebach Counties, two each in Bennett and Gregory Counties and one each in Butte, Fall River and Tripp Counties.

Across the state, 2,456 cases are considered active. That number is up from 2,434 on Wednesday. An additional 237 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 13,201.

A total of 83 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 1,120 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
