SD DOH: 235 total new COVID-19 cases, one death statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — On Thursday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 178 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 106,069.

57 of the 235 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

One new death was reported, bringing the state death toll to 1,949.

24 confirmed cases were reported West River: 11 in Pennington County, four in Meade County, three each in Dewey and Fall River Counties and one each in Butte, Corson and Lawrence Counties.

Six new probable cases were reported West River: four in Meade County, three in Pennington County and one each in Custer, Meade and Tripp Counties.

In South Dakota, 2,328 cases are considered active, that number is down from 2,391 on Wednesday.

An additional 296 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 116,040.

109 people are currently hospitalized; a total of 7,188 have been hospitalized since the pandemic began.
