SD DOH: 229 total new COVID-19 cases, three deaths statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — On Tuesday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 175 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 107,934.

54 of the 229 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

Three new deaths were reported, bringing the state death toll to 1,973.

44 confirmed cases were reported West River: 21 in Pennington County, eight in Lawrence County, six each in Meade and Custer Counties, two in Fall River County and one in Butte County.

Eight new probable cases were reported West River: four in Dewey County, two in Pennington County and one each in Perkins and Haakon Counties.

In South Dakota, 1,445 cases are considered active, that number is down from 1,512 on Monday.

An additional 708 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 118,848.

103 people are currently hospitalized; a total of 7,403 have been hospitalized since the pandemic began.
