SD DOH: 225 total new COVID-19 cases, one death statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — On Wednesday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 166 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 105,892.

59 of the 225 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

One new death was reported, bringing the state death toll to 1,948.

28 confirmed cases were reported West River: 17 in Pennington County, four in Meade County, two in Fall River County and one each in Butte, Lawrence, Oglala Lakota, Todd and Ziebach Counties.

10 new probable cases were reported West River: four in Meade County, three in Pennington County and one each in Custer, Fall River and Lawrence Counties.

In South Dakota, 2,391 cases are considered active, that number is down from 2,439 on Tuesday.

An additional 520 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 116,040.

113 people are currently hospitalized; a total of 7,168 have been hospitalized since the pandemic began.
