SD DOH: 222 new COVID-19 cases, one death statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — On Thursday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 172 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 105,026.

50 of the 222 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

One new death was reported, bringing the state death toll to 1,939.

27 confirmed cases were reported West River: 12 in Pennington County, four each in Lawrence and Meade Counties, two each in Custer and Oglala Lakota Counties and one each in Butte, Fall River and Lyman County.

Two new probable cases were reported West River:  one each in Perkins and Tripp Counties.

In South Dakota, 2,484 cases are considered active, that number is down from 2,511 on Wednesday.

An additional 248 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 114,774.

100 people are currently hospitalized; a total of 7,099 have been hospitalized since the pandemic began.
