SD DOH: 201 new COVID-19 cases statewide, one Meade County death

PIERRE, S.D. — On Sunday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 201 new confirmed COVID-19 cases across the state, bringing the total number of cases to 16,638.

The department of health reported one new death in Meade County. The state’s death toll now stands at 184.

56 of Sunday’s new cases are West River — 29 in Pennington County, six in Meade County, three in Gregory, Lawrence, and Oglala Lakota Counties, two in Bennett, Fall River, Stanley, and Tripp Counties, and one in Custer, Haakon, Jackson, and Todd Counties.

Across the state, 2,461 cases are considered active. That number is down 54 from Saturday. An additional 254 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 13,993.

A total of 110 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 1,165 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
