SD DOH: 181 total new COVID-19 cases, five deaths statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — On Wednesday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 131 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 100,947.

50 of the 181 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

Five South Dakota residents have died from coronavirus-related complications. The state death toll is now 1,893.

38 confirmed cases were reported West River: 19 in Pennington County, four in Meade County, three in Lawrence County, two each in Corson, Custer and Gregory Counties and one each in Butte, Fall River, Lyman, Perkins, Tripp and Ziebach Counties.

Four probable cases were reported West River: one each in Haakon, Mellette, Pennington and Stanley Counties.

In South Dakota, 1,993 cases are considered active, that number is up from 1,975 on Tuesday.

An additional 283 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 108,947.

97 people are currently hospitalized; a total of 6,654 have been hospitalized since the pandemic began.
