SD DOH: 169 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 46 West River

PIERRE, S.D. — Wednesday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show 169 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of cases to 15,571.

46 of Wednesday’s new cases are West River — 24 in Pennington County, four in Gregory County, three each in Butte and Lawrence Counties, two each in Dewey, Fall River, Meade and Tripp Counties and one each in Bennett, Custer, Corson and Harding Counties.

Across the state, 2,434 cases are considered active. That number is down from 2,679 on Tuesday. An additional 413 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 12,964.

A total of 76 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 1,109 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the statewide total at 173.
