SD DOH: 164 total new COVID-19 cases, eight deaths statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — On Thursday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 145 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 99,499.

19 of the 164 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

Eight South Dakota residents have died from coronavirus-related complications. The state death toll is now 1,872.

48 confirmed cases were reported West River: 36 in Pennington County, five in Meade County, three in Lawrence County and one each in Fall River, Lymann, Mellette and Tripp Counties.

Three probable cases were reported West River: one each in Haakon, Lawrence and Stanley Counties.

In South Dakota, 1,948 cases are considered active, that number is up from 1,891 on Wednesday.

An additional 91 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 108,144.

100 people are currently hospitalized, with a total of 6,589 people have ever been hospitalized.
