SD DOH: 143 total new COVID-19 cases, seven deaths statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — On Friday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 103 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 99,603.

40 of the 142 total cases are considered as new probable cases.

Seven South Dakota residents have died from coronavirus-related complications. The state death toll is now 1,879.

25 confirmed cases were reported West River: 11 in Pennington County, five in Meade County, two each in Butte, Oglala Lakota and Tripp Counties and one each in Fall River, Lawrence and Perkins Counties.

Six probable cases were reported West River: one each in Corson, Gregory, Haakon, Lawrence, Meade and Stanley Counties.

In South Dakota, 1,944 cases are considered active, that number is down from 1,948 on Thursday.

An additional 140 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 108,284.

96 people are currently hospitalized, with a total of 6,591 people have ever been hospitalized.
