SD DOH: 127 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 23 West River

PIERRE, S.D. – Friday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health show a total of 10,024 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in South Dakota, up 127 from Thursday.

One additional Pennington County resident has died from coronavirus-related complications. A total of 33 people have died in that county alone. One additional Lake County resident has died as well, bringing the statewide death toll to 150.

23 of Friday’s new cases are West River – nine in Pennington County, eight in Dewey County, four in Corson County and one each in Custer and Lawrence Counties.

Across the state, 1,101 cases are considered active. That number is up from 1,058 on Thursday. An additional 82 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 8,773.

A total of 65 people are currently hospitalized in the state and a total of 903 people have ever been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
